Email Marketing Campaign

Tactics to Increase Interactions with Your Email List

Email is a powerful tool to reach your target market. In this social media era, most people find that their email inbox is their place of peace amongst all the noise from Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms. This is why implementing an email marketing campaign is worth your while provided you do it right.

The problem is most people today tend to ignore these types of emails as they see it as spam. Although you might think that your email is special, chances are, to most people, it’s just another spammy, sales-type email that they get from websites they’ve subscribed to.

Always Have Permission

When building your email list, it is vital to state the purpose why you are asking for their email address. Include a strong call to action. People also tend to gravitate towards getting something in return when they give out their email address. This is important because this builds trust with your prospective customer from the get-go.

Understand Who You Are Sending Emails To

If you are sending discounts or coupons to retirees and middle age people, you can segment your email list by age group. That way, your email will look personalized for specific age brackets as opposed to just sending a general email for your entire email list. This will help build interest for your email and increase the chances of getting a reply.

Avoid a Noreply Address

If you are like me, you open your emails according to who sent it. So, if I see an email from a sender that says “no reply”, I automatically send it to the trash without ever checking what the email is. Make sure your email comes from a real person to avoid being ignored. You can use the name of your CEO or maybe even from a person in your marketing team. This will also make your email appear more appealing from first glance.

Personalization

By now, you can see a trend here. The tips I gave tend to favour a personalized approach. The whole reason for that is because sending a personalized email encourages the recipient to open the email and read and interact with the content. A great way to start is to make sure that you have a personalized subject line in your email. This is to ensure that your email will be opened.

Be Clear and Concise in Your Call to Action

Every email sent in an email marketing campaign will have a call to action. It doesn’t matter what it is, it is good to make sure that the recipient can determine what that call to action is within 5 seconds of reading your email. Otherwise, most people will tend to lose interest. It is vital to catch attention in the early part of your email.

Follow-Up Emails

Follow up emails are important to the success of an email marketing campaign because they increase your chances of catching your prospect’s attention. You just need to make sure you are not too pushy. One or two follow-up emails will do. Three or more could get you listed in their blocked account or spam lists.
